Hi! I am Gyna Costa, LCSW

I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker, therapist and founder of Blooming Counseling.

As a queer Latinx therapist, my work is grounded in neuroaffirming, trauma-informed care and a deep commitment to inclusion, connection, and belonging. My lived experiences shape how I show up in the therapy space - with curiosity, cultural humility, and respect for the many ways people move through the world. I view therapy as a collaborative process, where I learn alongside the individuals I support, honoring each person’s unique nervous system, identity, and story. Building a strong, authentic therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my approach, because meaningful change happens when people feel seen, safe, and understood.

Neurodiversity-affirming
approach

As a neurodiversity-affirming therapist, I approach therapy with the understanding that Autism, ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome (TS), OCD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dyspraxia are not "problems to be fixed or cured" but different neurotypes with unique needs, strengths, and challenges.

Approach

My approach is client-centered and strength-based. We will focus on your sensory, emotional, communication, and physical needs to help you understand yourself better. As we navigate the therapeutic process together,  I can help you explore ways you might have been "masking" throughout your life and develop strategies to communicate your needs to others while respecting yourself and your neurodivergent brain.

Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental space during therapy sessions to help you grow and learn more about yourself. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and lose hope, but I firmly believe that you know what’s best for you. My role is to guide you through the process of self-discovery, helping you develop tools to manage emotional distress and understand your neurodivergent brain. I am passionate about helping my clients recognize their inner strength and identify what may be holding them back, enabling them to take steps to overcome their challenges.
